Latasha Alcindor aka L.A.

Latasha Alcindor, informally addressed as L.A., is a Brooklyn solo artist who finds resonance in lyricism. Appropriately identifying Latasha as a performance artist, L.A.’s music combines the powerful worlds of experimental music and Hip Hop. She began in 2011, and since then has continued to carry stories and discourses about life, spirituality, womanhood and Black culture. Her music rests in paradoxical themes of party-like melodies and pensive lyrics. She manages to amass fans through this, opening doors through the eyes of a Black woman, living, healing and experiencing some of the world’s most challenging fortunes and misfortunes.

L.A. has opened shows for a number of the Hip Hop industry’s most recognized influencers including Kanye West, Big Sean and Ghost Face Killah. Her videos and music can be found on publishing sites like VICE, REVOLT, and HUFFINGTON POST. Her most considered performances can be accredited to headlining at The Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturday’s, Manifesto, A3C and more. In June of 2016, Latasha released her “Headraps” music video, serving as a prelude to her upcoming L.A. LYTES project, receiving more than 45K views on Facebook and landing a Spotlight feature on REVOLT TV’s home site.

Today, L.A. places much of her focus on her two upcoming projects the Grace EP and B(LA)K, the album. As she prepares for their releases, Latasha will perform on a number of stages during the 2016 year, sharing her stories and introducing her fans to the work that is yet to come. L.A.’s current and most promising venture is in partnership with National Sawdust, where she plans to host an interdisciplinary show this August, introducing music experts and casual listeners alike to her upcoming album,  B(LA)K.

Enforcing Latasha’s plans of stronger impact and larger fan growth, her forthcoming music will be available on Spotify, iTunes, Tidal and YouTube on a global scale. The 2017 year will open with more shows introducing her audience to the TEEN NITE AT EMPIRE MIXTAPE. Towards the end of the year, her live sets will transition into the B(LA)K experience, which will debut in Summer 2017, introducing L.A.’s interdisciplinary, multimedia work.
